Do freshwater shrimp (red cherry/crystal red shrimp) like to live in a tank with tannins or should I try to remove them. Thanks.

Seachem purigen will take care of the tannin if you don't care for it.

Hello bg...

Tannins or tanic acid won't harm any tank inhabitants. Just change out half the tank water every week or two and the tank will be fine.

Tannins are fine for them, I add oak leaves to my tanks to get a little tannins, and get them something to forage on. If it is from your DW, you may want to boil it to get more of them out if you don't like the color in the water. It is completely fine to leave it though. Some DW takes forever to stop turning the water a golden color.
