Duncan Spawning?

Anyone know if Duncans spawn? Shortly after my white lights cut off, my Duncan shrunk down (like normal) all of the "mouths" opened up, and small little spheres began to come out slowly--which immediately got devoured by my cardinals, clownfish, and mandarin. It wasn't the normal purging of waste as I've seen it do before, so I figured I would enlist the thoughts of the experts...

Here's a crappy iPhone shot with one of my cardinals lined up waiting. Unfortunately, the picture doesn't show what one of the heads towards the back was releasing at the time. Sorry, but my iPhone seems to only pick up the magenta in the color spectrum...
