I decided to give a couple of Electric Blue Ram (EBR) a try. One of my LFS folks thought they were being sold as a sexed pair, but I'm pretty sure these are two males. I very much like the Microgeophagus ramirezi as a species, but I'm not super impressed with this coloration so far. Could be my lighting or their age. I'm going to provide two typical GBR females (I doubt EBR females are easily found) and see how things go. Currently the 50g tank houses the two rams, two emeral green "cory", two rummy nose tetras (maybe about four more soon), five scarlet badis, a few shrimp, and one mystery snail. ps Still working on manual focus of my wife's digital camera, argh.

My LFS has an EBR in right now that I keep looking at, but they want $40 for it.

I have been thinking about adding Bolovians and GBR lately.

The EBRs seem much more angle and lighting dependent. Sometimes I look at them and think how washed out they look and then they swim into the light and change angle and look pretty impressive. On the other hand, the regular GBRs next to them look flashy almost all the time.

It just occurred to me that it's almost as if the shimmery specks on the black spots of a regular GBR are what the EBRs have all over.

I think I'll stick with my GBR and Golds. Those EBR's are nice but seem to look a bit washed out compared to GBR.

Nice looking fish .Never seen them at my local fish store.

Beautiful fish! I have never seen one before. Either one, GBR or EBR, I wouldn't mind in one of my tanks! :)
