Evaporated Sea Salt

Hello:

I want to raise the salinity in my saltwater tank and would like to know if it is recommended to use evaporated sea salt instead of the salt that we buy at the pet stores.

Would it damage my fishes and corals?

i would use nothing but aquarium grade salt mix. i don't know if it would hurt anything to use the food grade sea salt or not. depending on where it's harvested from, it could contain larger amounts of certain trace elements than you would want in an aquarium.

You wouldn't want to sprinkle salt into a tank anyway.
