Feeding pellets to a mantis

So oddly enough my purple spot mantis, who regularly eats clams and shirmp, has taken a liking to hikari crab cuisine. I've fed it a couple of times when I'm too lazy to defrost the frozen seafood. Is feeding prepared pellets bad? It's a 3.5 inch g.Smithii.

opprotunistic by nature? i see no issue but a varied diet is necessary

Well I feed hikari frozen clams and then market shrimp. Is there anything else I should be giving him?
