Fire Eel

We just got a Fire Eel from a LFS. The owner told us the eel will be fine in out 30G FW, planted, community, tank. He also said the eel will grow very slowly and could stay in this tank for years.

A You-Tube video of someone feeding their giant Fire Eel by hand has me worried, should I be?

How long can I expect to be able to keep the Eel in the current tank, before I need to find him a new home?

Tanks mates currently include:
6x rasboras
2x glow lite tetras
1x Otto
1x flying fox
1x peppered Cory
3x blood fin tetras
3x silver tipped tetras

yep it will need a much bigger tank and will eat anything that can fit in its mouth, so it will not be a good tank mate for any of the fish in your tank. i would take it back
