Firemouth sexing... Please help

Male. Males are more colorful, have more pointed fins, and are less rounded.

I wanted to create a hybrid of a Firemouth X Convict and I had this fish with a female convict for months and they did not breed and I started thinking that my firemouth is a girl as well... i only plan on keeping a good fish and destroying the rest

I agree but btw that is a male because of its intense colors.By the way thorichys meeki and amatitlania nigrofasciata are 2 different species of cichlids an will never breed.ever.

Judging by the shredded fins, it's probably extremely stressed...

And its fins aren't shredded. .. its a v shape because it never grew back right.. its perfectly healthy
