yellow labs (labidochromis caeruleus) are bright yellow and definately stand out in a tank.. they are pretty commonly found as most people are attracted to the bright color.. I have 5 in my 55g they get around 5in but there are several beautiful ones to pick from

How aggressive do you want? Mild, aggressive or highly aggressive

Not sure i think I have enough hiding places for the highly aggressives and wouldn't have have a problem going that route only thing that worries me about them is I don't want to get one that's just go around and kill or injure all of his tank mates

And thanks for the yellow lab suggestion do you know of any good Africans to go along with them

I paid 10 for both and as far as aggression they only get into it with my lone desmoni check spelling on that.

Hey all this my first post and I am currently getting ready my first larger tank which I plan to stock with about 12 or 13 cichlids and a bristle nose pleco just wondering if you had any thoughts or ideas of what I could do to get goin the best way possible

Specs are...
Two tetra 30is just came with the kit plan to upgrade soon
Two 18 in bubble curtains
An air stone might ad another
And a 200w heater

Is it cool for your tank to be hanging off the ends of the dresser like that?

I also noticed it as well, that's a lot of weight hanging off on the edge...id be searching for a stand that adequately supports your tank...or build one for less than $50,several how to vids on utube...that being said I like your rock work&keep us posted on your progress..

Those are pretty any idea how much they run price wise?

I have had pretty good luck buying off eBay, and a lot of times you can bundle different fish in the same box if ask the seller but, as I'm learning the hard way, just make sure you do your research on any fish before you buy it

I noticed the tank hanging off the dresser too. if you dont have the whole plastic trim supported the tank will crack and being that big it will cause a decent amount of damage i would drain it before you get fish and save up for a stand. or build one i built mine paid 40 bucks including stain and hardware. also you can find from truaqua.com aquatop cf500uv canister filter 525gph for $129.99 free shipping and that would free up your whole tank. i like the aquascape with the rocks you got going on though and good choice with the africans.

link for a stand basic design i used 2x6's for the top and bottom box frames on mine though

Another option if you can't afford a new stand at the moment would be to simply buy a board that's the size of your tank base and put it between the tank and the dresser. This will spread the load evenly and save your tank from cracking under pressure.

Or a quicker cheaper fix would be to cut a sheet of ¾ plywood in ½ and glue the 2 pieces together with sub floor glue then put that under your tank

even with the 1.5" of plywood though it still will warp over time and then he is looking at the same issue in my opinion. and to get the plywood its going to be like 20 bucks so why not just build the stand for like 40 more max you could also always build the stands frame and then finish wrapping it later or search craigslist for a metal stand prob could get one cheap

Well sure over time, but given enough time a 2x6 will warp, and with no more than is hanging off it will be plenty strong enough,

Yea I'm looking at building a stand have the stuff just gotta get the time to build and a place to put it

Just added some lace cats not a real great pic but there pretty shy and this is all I could get for now lol I have three in the tank
