I have been attempting a fishless cycle using pure ammonia. I got some old filter media from a friend and started seeing nitrates very quickly. My question is, do I continue dosing up to 3 ppm ammonia once there are nitrates? Or should I be adding less ammonia now? My log is attached if that helps at all. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Your goal should be to reach the point where, when you dose up to 4 ppm of ammonia the next day you see 0 ppm ammonia and nitrite. So keep going. You look like you're getting pretty close thanks to seeding with the old media

Thanks

Thank you, I'll continue with the same dose then. I had seen a couple of sources online that said to cut back on the ammonia at some point, but it does seem to make more sense to continue with the same amount.
