Fluval M300 - A good heater for a 90 gallon??

The website says the heater is good fro up to 8gallons, but the E300 has the exact same wattage (300) and is optimal for up to 100 gallons.

Should this heater be adequate for my tank? It will be used for South American Cichlids. How are these heaters in general?

It depends how far you need the temperature to go. In other words, if the room temp is 65 and you are heating to 85 you need a much bigger heater than if the room temp is 70 and you are heating to 75.

I would also use 2 heaters in a tank of that size in case one fails.
