So at a very early age into this hobby (6 months) I have contracted MTS!!! (multi tank syndrome) and I have been very lucky and patient with my fresh water (75 gallons) have a beautiful planted semi agressive tank, and I am wanting to start salt water, have done a couple days of research as well as tank planning, as I am going to do a DIY approach. For me to start, I would like to start salt water just by fragging corals, getting experience and working towards the skillset to manage and maintain the levels in the tank.
So, what I am on planning on building is a all ply wood tank with these dimensions
Bottom = 48 " x 24"
Front = 48 " x 11 1/4"
Back = 48 " x 11 1/4"
2 Sides = 11 1/4 " x 22 1/2"
1 Top Brace = 22 1/2 " x 6"
Using a 3/4 plywood
This should be a fairly long tank arround 60ish gallons
Is this deep enough for a frag tank?
So I was thinking about keeping it really basic then I don't need calcium dosed in and grow softies then the equipment I would need is some T-5s, protein skimmer, and finally just a HOB. Therefore avoiding need of a sump.
Does this all work out and make sense? If not what am I missing?
Have a great day!
