Hey guys I bought a used 75g tank a few weeks ago. It was pretty gross, algae everywhere. The rock was in a bucket for transport. Once we cleaned the tank, I rinsed the rock with RO water. I didn't really look it over, just threw it in; it was 1am lol.
After the tank cleared up, the rocks have fuzzy hair stuff on them, is it old algae? ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1428603568.849675.jpg

What is the best way to get rid of it?

Scrub it more. Hyrdogen peroxide will kill it...and everything else as well. I usually mix it in some old tank water to a 1-10 ratio and let it sit for half an hour and scrub at it.

Thats what the rock looks like after I use peroxide on it lol. Just the dying algae, it should fade away or blow off in a few days usually. If it takes hold again and starts coming back then you might wanna do a dip with the peroxide, but as mentioned above, it will kill anything "alive" on the rock.
