Hey, I've had my Golden Panda Molly for about 2 months now. Since 3 weeks in, its been looking pretty bloated with a noticeable large white belly. I'm not sure if it has dropsy or if its just from overeating but the molly seems to hide most of the time and moves pretty slow. I still haven't managed to cycle my tank 2 months in (working on a fish-in cycle now) and so far the ammonia is at 0.5ppm. I also just have a single molly in a 29gallon tank with about 20 other small fish (tetras, guppies, cories). Any ideas on whats going on?

That amount of ammonia is harming your fish. The bloated one could have any number of things and none will be helped by higher ammonia.

Do pwc's asap. That is a pretty larger amount of fish in a non cycled aquarium.

Try feeding them a smaller amount of food - then feed them 2 x but like 1/4 of what you have been feeding them. Slowly add the food, get their attention first, so they know to expect food, and add just very small amounts, slowly so they have a better chance to eat it up and not have it fall down wasted. Feed lightly for a week.

See how the bloated fish does act and look after the water changing and getting the ammonia to 0.

What are the Nitrite levels and the Nitrates?
