Hello everyone, a local pet store in my area is closing and they had a huge clearance sale selling off everything. So I went there and they had gravel for 50cents a bag. So I have an empty ten gallon at home so I thought why not? I get home and dont realize till now that the gravel has so much algae growth on them. How can I get them clean? Im soaking them in hot water but any other ways to clean them? Or how necessary is it to get clean? Could some bacteria from the algae and rocks help with the cycle? Thanks for listening let me know! :)

You could bleach it, which would kill the algae but would also kill the other bacteria on it. Just be sure to rinse it very thoroughly after bleaching.

And yeah bleach or vinegar it will destroy most of it but will need lots of rinsing
