So I picked up a 20 gallon tank and I am picking up another 20 gallon either tomorrow or Saturday to split up my fish from the pond. Anyway my main tank/display tank is a 55 gallon and I am debating on weather or not to switch out the gravel for sand?
What are the pros and cons of sand vs. gravel? I already have quite a bit of gravel in the 55gallon but I think I would like sand better.
I know one con with gravel is the fish can eat the gravel and choke on it but I imagine gravel would be easier to clean? Can you use a gravel filter on sand? Can I just go to my local Home Depot and pick up some 50lb bags of sand or do I need special sand?
Thanks for your input!
