Growing macroalgae

Recently acquired a extra ten gallon tank from a friend and don't know what to do with it. But after seeing macroalgae I figured maybe I could use that to grow some for my main tank? Don't know much about it though and my 45 gallon display tank does not have a sump.

Can it be done?

I guess I don't understand the point of what you are trying to achieve?

Grow the algae so I can use it in my main tank to become a natural filter I suppose. And some food to anything that will eat it
