Good to hear. Keep an eye on the levels as phosguard works fast and easily expends itself. I've seen it used up in 3 days before from very high levels.
I'm trying to understand the logic behind removing the bio-balls.
I have seen that recommendation elsewhere, to remove any bio-media, but what is the logic behind it?
if you are using a good filter sock/mechanical filtration, in theory, the bio-media shouldn't be an issue.
Could some explain the reasoning behind it?
From what people hav3 told me bioballs after time start building up crud in them and leaking phosphate and nitrates in the water. Dont take my word on that though

Still feeding flake?
Try frozen food defrosted and rinsed.
Lots of PO4 in flakes and frozen(it is the preservative) which is why you rinse the frozen.
I wonder if the po4 is leaching from rock(not so uncommon)?
Are you keeping up on fresh phosguard?
Checkout the chemi pure elite or GFO for chemical solutions.
SeaClear is a liquid for spas that reefers are using to remove po4 lately.
The use of this is similar to carbon dosing as an example I believe. Lanthanum Chloride AKA SeaClear for pools - Reef Central Online Community
Just putting thoughts out there.
Lights although new still only 8 hrs?
What are the new lights?
have you tried Seachem's Excel, daily, dosing as recommended? I change water 50% weekly as I am running a low tech with Excel nano tank with plants and a Betta.
The algae is consuming your nitrates and phosphates, that's why you aren't getting a reading. The new lights are simply adding more fuel to them. Better lights means better growth.
