When I returned home from work last night I noticed my Xenia was closed. Also my mushrooms were closed and fish weren't swim as usual. I started to check the water for any spikes. I immediately knew the problem when I felt the water. The heater had gotten stuck in the on position. The temp was 90+. I started adding cool water and ice both ro water. I added a cup or so of ice every 20 min. Temp is in the normal range and everyone seems happy now. Should I watch for any trouble in days to come?

Don't trust your current heater anymore and buy a new one.

What was the heater brand that stuck?

I had a viso therm heater that stuck on and temp also rose above 90 degress.

I had the same problem....my heater broke on and tried to boil my water for me

I'd ditch the heater for a new one (or two depending on your tank size) and think about doing a decent water change too

I am not sure what brand it was, but it has already been trashed. My mushroom coral looks ok but the Xenia doesn't. Do you think it will come back?

Xenia are very hardy as long as water conditions are ideal. Xenia will die off only to come back better than ever.
