Have a 29 gallon community tank which has a blue German ram. Everything was going fine with him and the other fish in the tank but this weekend I added a school of cherry barbs and they are nipping the fins of Freddy Mercury(GBR). I want to isolate him so u can add medicine to help his fins heal but the only thing I have available is a 5 gallon empty uncycled aquarium. Any ideas?

What else is in the tank? IME cherry barbs are usually peaceful unless theyre unhappy. Water are your water parameters?

You could put him in there with filter media from your cycled tank just monitor the water carefully. Does it have a heater and a filter?

Yes it has a heater and filter. There are 3 platy's 6 cherrys and 4 zebra danios in the tank with him and 4 corys. Won't it harm the current aquarium if I remove the filter cartridge from it.
