I thought I would measure my Nitrogen and Phosphates before i start dosing them individually.

I purchased a Phosphate Kit and a Nitrite/Nitrate Kit from Seachem. Now they give me these pretty color scales with numbers on them, but I have no idea what units they are talking about? Also, How do I convert these numbers into ppm so I can know whether I am in the best range for these macros. Why does this need to be so complicated???

I know there is a guru out there. Please help me :(

I use the API, but I think that most tests give your results in either ppm or mg/L. If the values are in mg/l you can say that 1 ppm = 1mg/L.

Yeah, it finally occurred to me that they are very similar.

The funny thing is there is no scale or units on the color chart.

The Nitrates are numbered from 0-50. I am told to divide by 4.4 to get the Nitrogen value. I assume this is all in mg/L? What do you think? The preferred range is 5-30 ppm.

Thanks
