How do you know when it is time to add new shells?

you should have shels the day you buy them because you dont know. otherwise if they are ready to move to a new shell and there is none they will kill onr of your snails for a shell...

ok just make sure its a shell not to much bigger. you should get a shell of a color you like dont let the LFS try to jip you into buying to expensive stuff

The more natural the shell color the better

It's not really the size of the shell, it's the size of the hole that the crab needs to fit into. I get mine a little bigger (holes) than the ones they are in.
