Hob refugium

I'm about to go get my saltwater, live and dead rock, live sand, hydrometer, powerheads, and other chemicals etc. to start my saltwater tank! I had a fresh water tank and I was wondering if I should turn my hob filter into a refugium. If so I would take all the media, get a clip on light, and get some rubble and cheato. What are your thoughts on this? Yes or no?

How big of a filter

Pretty big. It's probably prob about 12 inches

Is it on your 36 bowfront? You can try there isn't that much it will do. Maybe lower the nitrates a little it won't house enough pods for mandarin unless you have a ton of live rock
