I bought a 5 gallon tank about a month ago and since day one people a the pet shop keep telling me that I could fit one or two fish in it. Bought two mollies and few days later the die. I realised the ammonia levels were ridiculous and the space for them was wrong and cruel. I'm upgrading to a 16 gallon tank now. And I would like to know how many little guys can a put in it. Without having a disaster. Of course after cycling my tank fish less

It really depends on the floor space in the 16gal. If it is a hex, 2 platys, a rectangle, 4-5 platys. Mollys and swords grow too large for a 16gal.

Thanks a lot. I am still looking for the most suitable species and combinations for my rectangle 16 gallon tank
