the title says it, how much gravel should i use? im replacing my old gravel with crushed coral. i had 44 pounds of the old gravel

Generally a pound a gallon works. Why are you changing to crushed coral? It will effect your PH and is very course, your bottom dwellers will not like it.

I run around 1.5lbs per gallon, and I hated crushed coral as a substrate and was quickly removed and given to a salty friend.

well, I've always ran crushed coral in my tanks and found that my ph is very stable. I'm thinking sand, but I don't want gravel anymore, plus I've got plants, so I need something that's not real heavy to keep the plants temporarily rooted.

it's on a basis of look. I'm looking to lower the ph with it. My ph is steady at 8.4. Not alot of options other than sand and maybe a dirt substrate which I'm unsure how to do.
