I have been looking into the master kit because. , I would do the test the wait like 20 min and they would be different. I think I will just put out a little more money for a better product.

Definitely worth the extra money & will last you longer than those strips.

Maybe print her out a booklet one cycling, teach her about it, go through the steps with her. After its cycled surprise her with a trip to a LFS all on you or something, buy her some beautiful but easy fish to start. Some tetras, rams, maybe a DG.
Make sure she knows to use dechlorinator and get her a test kit before anything so she knows if anything is going wrong!
Also depending on her lighting you could get some beautiful plants for her and that will make her tank that much better. Just make sure shes informed completely!
