I had ich in my tank a while back only my 2 tangs, a yellow and a hippo, got it. i put them in a qt with cupramine, and they were doing fine for about a week ( i was checking all the levels, coppper was consistant, and after about a week and a half they started showing signs of stress, the blue tang always hid it self in or behing a couple plastic coral i put in there, the yellow just plain stopped moving, so i put them back in the tank the blue tang sprang back to life. unfourtunatlly the yellow tang went into shock during aclimation and died shortly after. and in another unfourtunate event, the little cover on my power head fell off somehow and the blue tang ( just a lil baby) went inside it if u know what i mean. so i left the tank alone for about 5 weeks, i read the life cycle of the ich was about 4-6 weeks. the only fish in there are 3 clowns and a dottyback who have never shown signs of ich. on the 5th week i got another baby tank, slightly bigger this time about an 1nch and half. he was in there for 2 weeks when, BAM ich. wtf. i dont get why the others dont show signs of ich. is it maybe becuase he is such a little tang? and if so would he stop getting the ich as it matures? or should i use my qt tank to set up a hypo treatment for another 6 weeks. its a ten gal with a HOB elite power filter and incandecesnt lights. im worried if i do that he will somehow stress. idk wat to do can anyone help me i <3 my blue tang

10 gallon with 5 fish is way to small, i have a 25 gallon right now with 5 fish and it is a chore,i think you should treat with hypo,i am doing it rightnow it works so far great

well if i did a qt in the ten i would only put the tang in right? the others have never once shown signs of ich. can i do the hypo on the main tank? cuase i have invertes. lots of blue leg crabs, a snail, emerald crab, condylactus anenome

i hat to tell you but if one got you have to assume they all got it, you cant hypo the main cauze the inverts will not handel the lower salienty,i am doing hypo right now cause my flame angel gave it to my tank and 1 clown got it and in another week the other came down with it, the problem you have is you have a condy and it needs the strong light i was going to say move the inverts to the 10 gallon and hypo the tank but you will kill the live rock and the ive sand if you have it in your tank

yea... im gonna have to figure something out, the other 4 fish have been in that tank for probably 5 months, doing wonderful. the ich really started showing up when i changed diets..... i used to feed blood worms and sea weed for the tangs, but then i found this omnivore food with like algea and seaweed and shrimp inside it, so i thought i would kill 2 birds with one stone. im thinking if i change the diet back maybe the amune system on the tang will boost up. i am also using garlic, but idk how effective its gonna be. u think if i just return the anenome to the store the crabs will be good in the hypo?

If one fish shows signs of Ich you must assume that all fish have the parasite. You need to remove all fish from the main tank for a period of 4-6 weeks (6-8 weeks would be better) and treat all the fish. Hypo is my preferred method and it worked for me.

Here's now ... Hyposalinity.

You`ll have to remove all the fish and treat with hypo in a QT. Your main will have to remain fishless for about 8 weeks. only way to get rid with good success.
