Hi, I bought what I thought was an empty tank for my little ones 8th birthday. I had intended having a few fan tails in there. On collecting we were presented with 2 adult fish and 3 babies of unknown origin.... The fish were in a mixing bowl at this point as the tank was cleaned for transportation... Our aquarium shop identified them as convict cichlids. Almost 2 months in 2 babies still remain along with 2 algae eating lunch and 3 apple snails.. All living in relative harmony. I must admit I could not have chosen better, the personality of the male is fantastic. He's about 4" in length, the female a tad smaller, they chase around like loonies but no real aggression as yet, I'm learning day by day ?

I enjoy my Convicts too. Once settled in you're likely to have a Convict population explosion. They are very prolific breeders.
