Here is an article on Ich that has some interesting info.
In particular is a heat resistant strain coming out of Florida and a strain of Ich that actually spends it entire life cycle in the host making it very difficult to treat.

Another good reason to get a QT set up for new fish.
 
Good article. Nice find.
That strain will be a pain if/when it gets around.
Will cause problems for planted tanks. They don't like salt at all.

P.S. I agree with joy, QT is a must.

There is also salt resistant strains described .... Comes from indiscriminate use of salt. <Some goldfish breeders are routinely keeping their stock at 0.3% salt.> ... This strain is reputed to be able to survive 0.9% salt ... :(
