My tap and tank water are reading a gH of about 8, is thus too high for red cherry shrimp?

No, that's what we have in one of our tanks that's nearly bursting with RCS.

Thanks, that's reassuring. I really want to add more RCS but I'm afraid that would be an issue.

My tanks sit at about Kh6 and Gh7 and I have hundreds of RCS. I would take Gh a little higher but I also have soft water fish so have to compromise.

I'm glad to hear that a gH of 8-9 is okay then, it's really a pain to have to try and lower it. It also freaks me out to add RO water in the tank.
