As corys are bottom feeders, small rounded gravel is a must so Cory's barbels are not damaged. But I know a pool filter sand made specifically unspherical to trap things and it is quite coarse. I wonder whether it is ok for corys.

I can only tell you that I have 6 cory's and also have PFS and all is fine.

What was the sand I was reading about that was bad for cory barbel's and other bottom feeders?
Just jagged gravel?
Or what...

The "bad sand" is usually sold as "play sand" - its more jagged than PFS. However, you should still run your hands through the PFS and play with some between your fingers to make sure that the "brand" you're getting seems smooth.
