Aquarium Advice Newbie
Hi. I have been an aquarium hobbyist for many years. I have had vivariums, African and South American cichlids. Community fish, frogs, salamanders.
I am starting up a new 78 gallon tank after divesting myself of all my pumps, filters. Etc.
I have noticed that above ground pool filters are self contained sand filters.
One experienced friend who had a marine tank, said he would be sceptical of metals that may leach from the filters.
Another said no idea.
So my question is:
Sand filters for above ground pools...is there a downside to using one in an aquarium?
I would appreciate any ideas. Now I think more about leaching metals the more it fails the sniff test.
