Hi I have just noticed my 3 clown loaches have white spots all over them, if it is ich what is the best way to treat as I have heard they do not do well with meds.

I would say yes. Treat the whole tank. If you have live plants I would quarantine and do treatment for your plants sake.

If you don't have meds on hand you can SLOWLY(1-2 degrees every 45-60 mins) up the temp to 86 degrees. You can also add salt at 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons.

This is known as the heat and salt method. It basically speeds up the life cycle.

That being said, it's going to look worse before it looks better. Id be doing water changes and vacuuming every day.

If you see no change after a week of treatment I'd bust out the meds.

I have used meds with my clowns in the same tank too many times over the last 15 years.
I like Kordon rid ich plus( not the herbal stuff).
It has the mix of the best ich killer going.
The salt and heat method may work as well.
Get the heat all the way up to 86+ to kill ich.

Good info on life cycle of ich

Know the enemy!!
Clowns can be ich magnets when new but once stabilized are bullet proof IMO.
Kill the ich!

I actually had good luck with kordons ick attack. It is the natural stuff - it works but it takes a bit longer. When I got ich in my tank I was severely limited 1 because of the clown loaches, 2 because of plants (they don't do well with salt) and 3 I had shrimp in there. It took about a week and a half (including the extra days without seeing spots) of treatment for it to completely be gone.

The other kordon is a really good one too and relatively safe for most anything
