well, for this plant, you would need at least a medium light with at least some nutrients. it's really not a challenging carpeting plant but you do need a good source of light.
They do grow SLOWLY in low light. Increased growth with increased light. In my shrimp tank it sent runners out early on but has stopped. In my med light tank it sent runners constantly. I even grow some outdoors in a small pond. Planted this last summer and it over wintered under ice and now has flowers and oval emersed leaves.
