Jack Dempsey loves almonds?

My jack used to eat flakes and cichlid pellets like a normal little JD. But I used to feed my pacu almonds every other day as snacks, and the JD would quickly grab the ones the Pacu missed.

Now all the JD will eat is almonds. What the heck?

Seeds/nuts are very good nutrion. If you're going to pick one food to be exclusive with, that's a decent choice. (Assuming of course we're talking about sweet almonds, not bitter.)

If the JD is hungry, he'll eat other available foods. I'm sure if you cut back on the almond supply for a week, he'll rediscover his taste for flakes and pellets. He's just learned that there's better to be had right now.

you might also try mixing almond meal with a frozen food source.

I made some frozen fish food myself and put a whole bunch of almonds in the blender with the mix. Its still in the freezer but maybe he'll like that. If not, well he's gunna have to learn to like it!
