My tank is near a window where it gets some light but not a ton. Enough so that during the day if the light is off it is obvious that the light is off. I only plan on keeping my light on for 9 hours but I was wondering if those 9 hours could be like 2:00 pm to about 11:00 pm? I am only really home at night and if I set the hours on the light to the sun then I would never really see my tank with lights on. Im just worried that since the light would be off during the day when some light comes through my window my fish would be stressed out.

Is this possible or is it bad for my fish?

Indirect light should not pose a problem with your fish. Your plants (if you have any) will let you know by bending towards the light source if it is strong enough. I have a similar light pattern: mine goes on at 5 pm and off at 11 pm.
