Lighting during cycling

No, it's not a good idea to run any lighting usually. The high levels of ammonia and nitrIte that your tank will go through as it's cycling plus lighting create primo feeding grounds for algaes, so it's best to leave things in the dark during your cycle. The bacteria don't need the light, so there's no downside to it either.
