I will be the first to admit that I am an instant gratification person, also a huge believer in "Only Handle It Once" neither trait being good as far as fish tanks are concerned ? I am now trying hard to re-create my tanks into comfortable homes for the occupants as opposed to holding areas. Lighting is the current project. I have no live plants other than Guppy Grass, Java Moss, Christmas Moss & Hornwort. Almost all my tanks have had their lights converted from incandescent or florescent(sp) bulbs to household LEDs (hubby is an electrician) so my main question at the moment is which is a better for viewing the fish - "soft white" or "daylight" style bulbs? In the Shrimp(30), Angel(70) & Guppy(65) tanks I would obviously *prefer* something that shows off colours well but in the Knife(70), Oscar(70) Goodeid(55) & fry(30) tanks this is not as much of a concern.
