It has the color spectrum for growing plants (6000K) and adjustable percentages to lower and up the amount of light.

Watts per gallon may not be exactly what you need, PAR (photosynthetically active radiation), might not either, there is a need to know which colors are in the full spectrum colors in the light, as in the K rating.

There have been some people who do testing on the lights and find out the charts if not supplied by the light maker. Not my ability, so I go from what the company information supplied.

In aquarium lighting fixtures, not always but often for aquarium plant growing they will show a chart in which shows the actual light which is being sent to the plants.

Below - If you see after scrolling down, to the light color chart, that is an example of something which would be pretty good for plant growing.

Is the 29G a 30 inch wide top? Is this something you have or are looking to buy? It seems if you didn't buy it yet you might be able to get a specific type for aquariums at a similar price.

What types of plants are you wanting to grow?

I did not buy the item yet. My 29 gallon is 30.5 by 12 by 15.5. I want to grow pogostemon helferi and I'm going to get more plants soon.

For what it’s worth this beamswork light is the one on my 29 gallon and it works great for me for all the plants listed in my profile tank specs. I got a little dimmer to control it because my plants are pretty low needs so I leave it on low all day and only provide full power light for a portion of the day.
