Low ph ?

Is a ph of 8.0 to low for my fowlr sw if so how can I keep it at 8.3 ?

8.0 is perfectly fine and there is no need to try and get it any higher.

Second capts answer...some people would kill for a stable 8.0 ph without any boosters....you're ok

better gas exchange at the water surface will raise your ph. aim a power head upwards so that the surface is somewhat turbulent.

Or crushed coral....but I do have to warn that attempting to raise your ph may result in instability...

Mr.X you mentioned gas exchange in the post above. Would it matter if you had a sump compared to a tank without a sump and a tight fitting canopy?

most likely. the more surface touching air the better, as far as ph goes, but not as far as evap goes.
