They sell liners that you can use or nice size smallish plastic ones. The plastic is what I have and they can be found online or some hardware stores like home depot. here is a link to what your looking for
Simple pond for a flat area can be made from landscape timbers.
probably a warm weather pond as a lot of it is above ground.
Google water lily landscape timbers and you will get lots of plans. I attached a photo copied from the Internet.
I built one 8x8 and 2 feet deep. For less than $300. 18" raised and about 8" dirt dug from the center with a 10" wide shelf around the edge.
Liner $170, 24 landscape timbers 3x4x8.5 $65. Two sheet 1/2 plywood I had laying around( you would have top price this less than $50?)
Spikes and screws about $30
Then we decide to add nice decking on the top $80....
I'm not using a filter. So far it is working great for the lilies. Flagfish and sail fin movies are the current fish.
We will probably add 6-8 goldfish.
