Malaysian trumpet snails questions

So, I want to get some MTS for my planted tank. Thing is I don't want overpopulation. So I was wondering if a couple of assassin snails would control but not abolish a population of mts?

its my understanding that the only job of the assassin is to eat the mts. period. the only way I would think of handing the population is manually.
