Marineland Canister filter c160 leaking!!

I got a brand new Marineland Canister filter c160 and alone setting it up it started leaking out of the top, below the motor. I took everything out, when through the instructions reading every word and and putting it together just like the instructions said and it still did it. I don’t know what to do and the place I got it from is far away. Any suggestions? Please?????

I got it! The rubber gasket was off! I put it on and it works!

For future advice on the canister, if it leaks with the gasket take it off and coat it in Vaseline. It will give you a really good seal. If the outtake gives ya alot of bubbles might wanta do it too. It gives a better seal for no air to enter. I love my c-360.
