How do I make the substrate of my tank get covered in moss and what's the best for it ?

Planting moss directly in the substrate isn't ideal; most people grow the moss on a steel mesh or something and place that right on the substrate...like when you make a moss wall, just a moss "carpet."

So get some steel mesh and place it along the floor to allow the moss to grow along it then?
