My "cycle"

Ok so i filled a large tub halfway using 50% water from my established tank and 50% declorinated tap

I was looking to breed mystery snails in there

I have a sponge filter in there and the whole project has been setup for apit 6hours now

Ow long till i can add snails?

Do i even have to cycle?

Should i raise the temp and put in established tank gravel?

Is that neccisary

Any tips?

I believe the vast majority of the BB you're looking for are in filter media with gravel being a distant second. Water contains close to zero BB.

Well its a sponge filter and all my other tanks are hob

Would putting a rock in from the established tank also help

Gravel should be enough, but every little bit would help.

Are the mystery snails that picky?

Would 48 ours be enough with what i have done so far?

I suppose you'd treat it like any other tank that is being cycled.

I would suggest doing a full fishless cycle in the tank. If it is well seeded the cycle can be finished in 1-2 weeks which isn't a terribly long time to wait.

Mystery snails do require tropical temps so a heater will be a must.
