I won two auctions on EBay. Both were for 10 lbs of live rock.
I set up a Rubber Maid 35 gallon container last night.
I filled it with 20 gallons of tap water (I know....), I added dechlorinator and the recommended amount of saltwater mix. (per the instructions)
I have a hydrometer that has been filled with saltwater since last night. (refractrometer is on the list)
I added a small pump to circulate the water. The temperature is the same as the house temperature.. about 75 degrees.. (already running a/c unit)
I plan on keeping the rock there until I get the tank ready.
Do I need to do add anything else to the tub before adding the live rock?
Do I need to add lighting?
Filter?
Will the rock be fine in the tub for an extended amount of time? 3 weeks or so....
I will be adding an air pump and air stone tonight.
What should I expect the rock to look like if it has actually been in a tank for the last 1 - 3 years?
(One 10lb batch was in a tank for 1 year, and the other for 3 years.)
Thanks for you help!
