alex07 said:I hope you placed the betta in a bowl mean while you cycle your tank.
Coursair said:Since the Betta was already there I'd personally do a Fish In cycle.
This is my 10g Sea Star rimless I'm cycling with plants a Betta and a baby Guppy.

Planting more plants today. Fish are happy. Been up about 2 weeks, cycle should be over soon. Heavy planting helps. Plus will be running a HOB filter from my established 10 on it. It's overfiltered in a good way. Using a Eheim 2232 with Lily Pipes as main filter.
After Ammonia is Zero, I'll start GRADUALLY adding fish. CPDs, Scarlet Badis, Corydoras Habrosus or Hastatus
As well as some Cherry Shrimp.
Done right, I don't expect to lose ANY fish.

I'm hoping you bought the liquid test kit
Mahoney said:Yes I bought the liquid test kit
Why would you do a fishin cycle with a betta when you can put the betta in a bowl and do a fishless cycle? Fishless is much less work and you'll be cycled in less time
