Did you add anything else? I know some driftwood is said to. Lower ph but I didn't think it could lower it that much. Good luck, I hope it stabilizes for you.

I added a new decoration, and a plant, and got more gravel because my bed was too thin

Just do your own research or ask here when given advice from petsmart/petco... To often times it's not good advice.

I did a 20% water change on my 10 gallon aquarium and the nitrates went way down.
