My starfish has gone King Kong crazy

My sandsifting star has been in the tank for more than 1 month. Since yesterday, it's gone mad! It keeps climbing up the rockwork and the glass for some reason. It hasn't been climbing like this since yesterday. What is it doing? isn't it supposed to stay in the sandbed all the time?

It is hungry and looking for food. You might want to try feeding it small pieces of shrimp. I highly doubt your sandbed had enough fauna to support it.

Do i spot feed it? like putting a small piece under it?

every once and a while when i see my sand sifter i cut a little piece of shrimp and lay it on the sand bed, he quickly finds and consumes it, but usually i hardly ever see it

you can put the meat on the sand and place the center of the star over it.

How often should i feed it?

I'd try to spot feed it once a week IMO. You could try to feed it more like maybe 2 or 3 times a weeks but I think once should be good.
