Sounds good, with rock and sand displacement you won't have a full 20G of water, so that'll be a good amount

Ok so 2 clowns and a firefish, a cover from petco, fishneedit lighting fixture got it. Um also planning on getting the 5lb lr/25lb br nano kit from Marco's rocks. Anything else?

Test kits? Refractometer? Salt mix and access to RODI water?

I was planning on using distilled water. What's a good refractometer to buy and is the api master saltwater as good as the freshwater?

Don't use distilled, it's not that good. If you can't get RODI try getting water from the grocery stores machines, the ones with the huge blue jugs? It's cheap (probably cheaper than distilled).

Ok. What about substrate. I used play sand for my freshwater tanks. Should I bother with live sand or would it b a waist. Should I just buy aquarium sand

Live sand is a waste, try to just get some dry aragonite sand.
