Hello,

I started a 26" aquarium last Sept. I was reviewing my electricity bill and it seems that my household usage has increased from 300 kwh per month (before aquarium), to 400kwh per month after.

I keep my house cold (65 while away, and 69 while at home). My aqaurium temp is 78 degrees. I have a small pump for a blow stone, and the aquarium light on a timer. Both of these (pump and light) are on for about 10 hours per day.

Is it normal to see an increase like this?

Thanks!

my electric bill usage last month was about 1200 kwh and i only have a 1200 sq ft apt! It's normally around 500 or so and was before i set up any tanks, and stayed that way until it started being below 20 degrees and there is apparently no insulation in these walls lol. but to answer your question, i've never noticed an increase like that. sure its not these cold winter months almost everybody has been experiencing?
